Suspension – an act of Body modification

Suspension is an act of making a human suspend or hang with the aid of hooks that are pierced through his body with the help of body piercings. Only an experienced professional does it as it is one of the most delicate jobs and any kind of mistake could actually prove to be harmful for the person. A major injury could be the aftermath if there is any sort of mistake by the individual who practices suspension.

The preparation involved in the act of suspension actually takes more time than the actual act. This Body modification act requires a few persons to help the expert in the act. The use of multiple hooks is done in order to properly hang the individual who performs the act of suspension. There are hooks everywhere on his body from shoulders, upper arm and knees to the back depending upon the position the body are being suspended. A great amount of knowledge in precision and mathematics is required for the suspension artist. He needs those skills in order to make use of proper placement of hooks and the number of hooks that need to be used for the suspension act to be performed in a perfect manner. The number of hooks actually decides the suspension act. More the number of hooks the better and easy it is for the suspension artist to hang on the hooks but if the number of hooks are less in number then it might rip the skin of the artist. Hence a very accurate number of hooks are needed by the artist. The amount of weight that each hook needs to support should be distributed in an even manner otherwise it would rip the body of the suspension artist. Hence we could see that suspension is a unique form of Body modification.
